These are the Best Solutions to Get Rid of Water Retention in the Body

6 CAUSES OF WATER RETENTION AND HOW TO REVERSE IT
Water retention or edema is the accumulation of fluid in tissues and cavities, as well as in the circulatory system. This can cause swelling of the feet, hands, ankles and legs, and usually occurs in women during pregnancy or during the previous period.
It can also occur in people who are not physically active, in people who take medications for a long time, due to a sedentary lifestyle and during a long flight.
Although most causes of edema are not life threatening, this can be a symptom of kidney disease and heart failure. If there are no underlying conditions, water retention can be avoided and swelling reduced.
Causes of Edema
1. Excessive sodium intake
A diet rich in salt and an insufficient intake of water can cause your body to use its reserves, which leads to water retention. With water, cells can expand up to 20 times. It is very important to know that salt is not the only product that contains sodium.
It can also be found in processed foods such as processed meats and some spices and canned vegetables. On the other hand, Himalayan salt or Celtic sea salt can repair the damage caused by table salt.
2. Magnesium deficiency
Magnesium deficiency can lead to water retention. Magnesium is an important mineral for almost all bodily functions. If your body lacks magnesium, it can affect its proper functioning, which can lead to water retention.
One study showed that taking 200 mg of magnesium per day can reduce edema in women with premenstrual symptoms. Eating magnesium-rich foods or taking a magnesium supplement can help relieve this condition.
Foods rich in magnesium include: spinach, dark chocolate, nuts, yogurt, dark green vegetables, avocado, nuts, whole grains and peas.

Vitamin B6 controls many aspects of the body's water balance. Therefore, if your body does not have this vitamin, it can cause edema.
The Journal of Caring Sciences published a study showing that women with edema due to premenstrual syndrome were able to improve their condition by taking vitamin B6. As a water-soluble vitamin, vitamin B6 needs many cofactors to function. The best option is to eat it eating whole foods.
Foods rich in vitamin B6 include chicken, potatoes, pistachios, lean beef, tuna, turkey, bananas, nuts and sunflower seeds.
4. Potassium deficiency
Potassium is an essential mineral for the proper functioning of the cells, organs and tissues of the body. It is very important to maintain the normal balance of water in the body.
Eating a lot of salt and not eating potassium-rich foods can reduce potassium levels and ca
use water retention. Potassium deficiency can cause cramps, muscle cramps and weight gain. This mineral has the ability to reduce sodium levels and reduce water retention.
It is found in most fruits, but watermelon, watermelon and molasses are those that contain high potassium content.
5. Dehydration
Not eating enough water can cause dehydration, which puts the body in a state of survival and retains water. You can improve this condition by drinking water and juices rich in potassium. You should know that coffee and soda can dehydrate your cells even more!
6. Excessive consumption of processed foods
Although rich in sodium and sugar, processed foods may also contain artificial food additives that act as toxins and affect the liver and kidneys. Sugary foods, especially artificial sweeteners, can cause rapid increases in blood sugar and insulin levels.
Therefore, reduce the consumption of processed foods as much as possible. Eliminating chronic diseases and making sure your body is in good shape is an excellent way to detoxify it.
Medicinal Herbs for Edema Treatment and Relief ...pexels.com[/caption]

1. Stinging Nettle – (Urtica dioica)
Nettle is a common plant in most regions of the world with a temperate climate. It is loaded with nutrients and has astringent and diuretic properties. It has traditionally been used for a long time to treat a variety of conditions, including edema.
Research has shown that it has the ability to reduce swelling caused by edema by suppressing cytokine release, a substance that promotes inflammation.
A common and often recommended dose of this plant for edema is 120 mg three times a day.
2. Butcher’s Broom – (Ruscus aculeatus)

The butcher's broom, native to Africa and the regions around the Mediterranean Sea, is a evergreen shrub that has been used as a medicinal plant since ancient times.
The root of the plant, which has diuretic and anti-inflammatory properties, is the part most used in herbal medicine to treat edema.
The butcher's broom is one of the most studied herbal diuretics. It contains the steroidal saponins ruscogenin, neocchinine, prazosine and diltiazem (the highest concentrations are found in the root), substances that have been shown to increase the permeability of blood vessels, allowing fluid circulation and reducing inflammation.
The butcher's broom is considered particularly effective for lower leg edema caused by chronic venous insufficiency due to blood clots (deep vein thrombosis) and varicose veins.
It is also used as a herbal treatment for hemorrhoids and lymphatic edema that women often develop after treatment for breast cancer.
In addition, the anti-inflammatory properties of the plant make it useful to fight inflammation of the urinary tract and prostate, as well as to prevent kidney stones.
The recommended standard dosage for this plant is 11 mg three times a day. It can also be applied directly to affected areas in the form of ointments or compresses.

3. Dandelion – (Taraxacum officinale)
Dandelion is a common plant, considered by many to be a weed, found in most countries of the temperate northern hemisphere.
It was used by Native Americans to treat swelling. Today, the leaves of the plant are used for their mild diuretic properties to treat edema. The plant is often preferred to other diuretics because it does not change the level of potassium in the body.
It is thought that this plant is useful for reducing edema by eliminating the weight of water and increasing urination. It is also considered a mild laxative, which further enhances its effect as a natural diuretic.
In one study, the plant was shown to increase urination in humans when administered as an extract, indicating that its traditional uses for water retention have some scientific basis. The study was first published in August 2009 in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine.
However, further studies are needed to confirm the efficacy of this plant as a viable alternative to traditional diuretics.
A common and often recommended dosage for dandelion is 500 mg of root powder one to three times a day. For those who prefer it, it can also be used as a food, whether by mixing it to make juice or using the leaves in salads.
4. Bearberry – (Arctostaphylos Uva-Ursi)

The busserole, also called uva-ursi, is a small evergreen shrub that is widespread in northern latitudes. It has traditionally been used as a herbal remedy for various ailments, but especially to treat bladder infections.
The plant contains large amounts of tannins known to reduce swelling and inflammation, making the busserole useful for reducing the symptoms associated with edema.
A 1992 study conducted at Kinki University in Japan showed that the leaves of the plant contain a substance known as arbutin.
Arbutine has been shown to reduce swelling, especially when associated with indomethacin, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAIDs) that reduces fever, pain and inflammation.
As busserole has no diuretic properties, it is commonly used in association with medicinal plants that have them.
The standard dosage of the busserole is usually 500 mg per day. For commercial products containing this herb, the manufacturer's instructions should be followed.

5. Parsley – (Petroselinum crispum)
This well-known cooking herb has diuretic and anti-inflammatory properties, making it useful to reduce the amount of fluid retained in the body while treating swelling caused by edema.
Parsley contains tannins, flavonoids and other beneficial compounds that make it effective in treating edema and give it its aquaretic properties. Aquaretic herbs help remove excess fluids from the body while leaving sodium and potassium electrolytes intact.
Uncontrolled studies have shown that when parsley is associated with asparagus root (Asparagus officinalis), which also has aquaretic properties, the mixture helps to lose weight and reduce blood pressure (hypertension).
Parsley is generally considered a safe herb to use and standard therapeutic doses are one to three grams per day.
However, some substances in the herb can cause side effects. It is known to have a thickening effect on the blood and should not be used at the same time as anticoagulant drugs and aspirin
6. Goldenrod – (Solidago gigantea)

The golden rod is a perennial plant, native to Europe and Asia, which is considered both a mild diuretic and an anti-inflammatory agent.
These properties could make it useful for the treatment of edema, as it is thought to help "eliminate excess fluid from the body while treating tissue swelling."
The applications of this plant as a treatment for edema are mainly based on the uses of traditional and popular medicine. Studies on the plant's effectiveness for edema in humans are lacking, but a 1992 study at Cairo University showed that goldenrod reduced edema in rats.
The recommended dosage depends on the form in which it is taken. For powdered goldenrod leaves, it is safe and effective when taken in quantities of 6 to 12 grams per day, divided into two doses.
The commercial goldrod pills or capsules are also used as supplements and the manufacturer's dosage must be respected.
It is possible to use the herb in the form of tea by dipping the leaves for a few minutes in hot or boiling water. Taking it with water usually reduces the risk of dehydration due to the diuretic effect of the grass.

7. Cleavers – (Galium aparine)
Brushers are annual plants, also known as goose grass. The herb is native to Europe, North Africa and Asia. It owes its name to its sticky seeds and has been used in folk medicine to treat a number of diseases.
The herb is considered a natural diuretic and has been used to treat edema since ancient times. It helps to reduce the weight of water in the body while relieving swelling of the affected tissues.
It contains flavonoids, tannins and glycosides that are considered to be responsible for the diuretic and anti-inflammatory effect of the plant.
No scientific studies have been carried out to confirm the medicinal properties of the plant and its therapeutic applications are based on traditional uses.
Many herbalists recommend using cleavages as herbal medicines in the form of dye. A common dose of the dye is 3 to 5 ml, to be taken three times a day.
8. Horse Chestnut – (Aesculus hippocastanum)

The Indian chestnut tree is a medicinal herb that has its roots in ancient traditional medicine. It has been used primarily to treat varicose veins, hemorrhoids, bruises and conditions related to the digestive and urinary tract.
The Indian chestnut tree contains substances with low diuretic properties, but as a herbal remedy for edema, it is mainly used to strengthen veins and suppress the ability of veins to release water into surrounding tissues. This effect reduces swelling of the tissues, especially in the legs.
All plant parts of the horse contain the toxic substance esculine. Raw, unprocessed seeds, barks, leaves or flowers should never be used in herbal teas or remedies.
Indian chestnut extracts and supplements that have been properly treated and do not contain (or very little) esculine are generally considered safe if used for short periods of time.
For commercial preparations containing Indian chestnut, the manufacturer's instructions should be followed.
The Indian chestnut tree has an anticoagulant effect and should not be used at the same time as aspirin and other blood clotting drugs.

9. Ginkgo – (Ginkgo Biloba)
Gingko biloba is a well-known medicinal herb used to treat a wide range of health problems. It is native to China but has been naturalized in most parts of the world. Its seeds and leaves are used in herbal medicine.
To treat edema, it increases blood flow and circulation, reducing the loss of fluids from the blood vessels to the surrounding tissues.
The standard dose is usually 80 to 90 mg per day. The effects of the plant are generally not seen until the third week of application.
10. Buchu – (Agathosma betulina)

The buchu is a small shrub native to South Africa that has traditionally been used for a long time as a natural treatment for a range of diseases. It has slight diuretic properties that make it useful as a herbal remedy for edema.
The part of the plant that is used in herbal medicine are the leaves. Buchu leaves contain the active substances diosmine, quercetin, hesperidine and a few others that are considered responsible for the herb's ability to reduce tissue swelling and eliminate excess fluids from the body.
The leaves also have antiseptic properties that help in the treatment of urinary tract infections and the prevention of kidney stones. Buchu is often associated with other stronger diuretic herbs for a more potent effect.
The most common way to use this plant for therapeutic purposes is in the form of tea. To make tea, add one or two grams of dried leaves to a cup of boiling water and then leave to infuse for 10 minutes. The standard daily dose is three cups distributed throughout the day.
Buchu is not without side effects or contraindications and should not be used by people with a history of kidney or bladder problems. It is also not considered safe during pregnancy and it is important to consult a doctor before using buchu leaves as a medicinal plant.
